Improve Your Mental Well-Being

At USU’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), our mission is to embrace a holistic approach to student development by removing psychological, emotional, and behavioral barriers to learning and success.

USU students with access to a campus are eligible for CAPS mental health services. Most services are free to qualified students, confidential, and not part of your academic or university records. Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including differences of culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, religion, ability, and sexual orientation. We adhere to policies of equal opportunity and nondiscrimination.

How It Works

CAPS typically provides short-term, goal-oriented therapy (6-8 sessions). In general, individual therapy at CAPS is not recommended for students seeking and/or needing intensive or long-term treatment.

USU ThrivingCampus

For students looking for intensive or long-term treatment — and students who aren't eligible for CAPS — USU has partnered with Thriving Campus, which is an easy-to-use database of mental health providers in Cache Valley and across the state to make it easier for you to connect with off-campus mental health care.
